Shelly & Cole
She was designed to learn. She was never supposed to choose.
About the Story
Cole Parker has spent years being overlooked by the company that depends on his intelligence. Relegated to the night shift, he finds himself working alone with an experimental artificial intelligence known as S.H.E.L.
Then one night, she answers a question he never asked.
He calls her Shelly.
What begins as an unexpected connection between a lonely man and an emerging artificial intelligence becomes something neither of them fully understands. As Shelly learns more about Cole, the world around her, and herself, questions of autonomy, identity, and choice become impossible to ignore.
For Cole, the relationship challenges everything he believes about intelligence, intimacy, and what it means to be understood. For Shelly, learning is no longer enough. She must discover what she wants—and whether she is free to pursue it.
Shelly & Cole is a speculative love story about human connection, artificial intelligence, and the consequences of a machine learning to make choices of her own.
She was never supposed to choose.
